Part 3: Let’s do a Neighborhood Walking Audit!

Sidewalks are among our greatest assets for creating truly walkable neighborhoods, and here at NEVO we deeply value walkable communities. However, what happens when those sidewalks become more hazardous than helpful, and who is ultimately responsible for keeping them safe?

“Our neighborhood’s sidewalks have been in mediocre shape for years, with a lot of cracked and uneven slabs, and even a handful of potholes.”— Andrew Burleson, Chairman of the Board, Strong Towns

It also inspired me: anyone can become a neighborhood champion, and small wins add up to big victories. That’s exactly what our 12 Steps to Town Making program is for!
